• Do I need an appointment?

Yes.


• I would like to make an appointment, how do I do that?

It depends on what kind of appointment you’d like to make. If you are starting a new project, you should first make a consultation appointment. This is an initial meeting where we will discuss your project in detail, take the necessary measurements, and give an estimate of the amount of time and expense involved. If you decide to proceed with the project, we can collect the deposit and book your appointment(s) at that time. Consultations are free and typically take about 30 minutes.

If you have already met with us and wish to make a tattoo appointment, you have a couple of options. If you haven’t put down a deposit, email us so we can send you an invoice. If you already have a deposit on file, you may email us, leave us a voicemail at 202 882 0659, or call the front desk at Jinx Proof Tattoo (202 337 5469) to speak with someone directly.


• How long is the wait for an appointment?

The waiting period fluctuates throughout the year and depends on the size of the project and with whom you wish to work. The wait for a consultation ranges between a few days and several weeks. The wait between consultation and the first available tattoo appointment is usually between three to 12 weeks, depending on your preferred day of the week. We try to keep time available in our schedule for smaller tattoos so that the wait time is shorter. For the most current information on availability, please contact us.


• I have to cancel or reschedule my appointment. What should I do?

If your appointment is more than three days away, email us. If it is less than three days away, please call the front desk at Jinx Proof (202 337 5469) and notify them. They will let us know that you have cancelled or rescheduled the appointment.

We require at least 48 hours notice to avoid the forfeiture of your deposit. If your appointment is less than 48 hours away, you should still notify us via Jinx Proof. We will attempt to fill your vacancy to avoid the loss of your deposit, but we can make no guarantees.

Although we understand that occasional unforeseen scheduling conflicts come up, we expect you to be present for the amount of time you have reserved on our schedule. Arriving late for the appointment or leaving early may result in a loss of some or all of your deposit.

You will receive a reminder email about your appointment. This will give you more than 48 hours to cancel or reschedule.

 

• Why would I call Jinx Proof about my appointment at Globe Electric? Why is their address listed on my appointment reminder email?

We have worked at Jinx Proof since 2002 and continue to work there part-time. They are kind enough to be supportive of our business. We share certain resources, including the assistance of the people at their front desk.

 

• I have some questions or ideas about a project. Will you help me with this through email?

You are welcome to email us with your ideas and questions. If we can answer them via email, we will, but don’t be surprised if we suggest that a consultation would be best to discuss your idea.

 

• Does working by appointment mean that you only do large tattoos?

No, not at all.

 

• Do you have a “walk-in day”?

No, but we are available for walk-ins with some regularity at Jinx Proof. Please call them for information on availability. 202 337 5469

 

• I’ve booked a consultation. What information will you need from me?

We will need a detailed description of what you would like to get. It is a good idea to write this down ahead of time and prioritize the various details that you wish to see in your design. Often, size constraints require that a few ideas or details fall by the wayside. Having a prioritized list will help us focus on what is most important to you. You should bring any reference pertaining to the design. If this reference is in the form of an expensive book, personally valuable photograph, etc., please bring a color copy of the item instead of the original.

 

• What should I do to prepare for my tattoo appointment?

• How long will it take for my tattoo to heal?

It usually takes about two weeks to fully heal.  Expect a few days of tenderness followed by several days of peeling and flaking skin. Tattoos heal more like sunburns than cuts or scrapes, so scabbing is minimal.

 

• Will I need a touch up? What do I do if I need a touch-up?

It is not expected that you will need a touch up, but we will gladly take care of it if you do. Give your tattoo at least a month for the skin to fully recover, then contact us and we will book a touch-up appointment for you. Touch-ups are typically free of charge and usually take less than 30 minutes.
